Who is Southern Roots Adventure Soul?
July 2021 - West Glacier, Montana
Hi! We’re the McGoo Crew, Traveling McGoos, or Team McGoo depending what or whom we’re referring. A family of 5 that launched out of Collierville, TN - a suburb of Memphis, to pursue unknown adventures in a RV November 2020 and made our new “permanent” home base in beautiful Northwest Montana near Glacier National Park officially in April 2023.
As we have seen and done new things, our love for adventure has continued to thrive, while also acknowledging our southern roots and the ability to see and make the most out of the adventure happening in our daily lives wherever we are. Out of this concept and Mr. McGoo’s personal love for all things good-looking, soft, and comfortable apparel, Southern Roots Adventure Soul was born.
Thanks to a talented friend, we developed the logo noted on this website and the brand displayed on our comfortable apparel (here).
Once Kelly was diagnosed with cancer on December 1, 2023. The following day, he invited people to join along side us in prayer. He wrote:
A few years ago, one of Kel’s closest friends posted a message from his brother in law, who were just learning about their own cancer diagnosis in their son. His words resonated and I want to share them here.
“I remember once in a Seminary class while studying the New Testament Gospels we arrived at the point in the narrative where Jesus went to the Garden of Gethsemane as the weight of his coming crucifixion bore down on him. My Professor labored a point that I have never forgotten: never fail to have your closest friends pray for you. If Christ surrounded himself with the prayers of his closest friends in the Garden, how much less should we?”
So we covet your prayers during this time. Prayers to a living God who can intervene on our behalf. Prayers that He can sustain us. Prayers for our family to walk in a manner worthy of the Gospel and continue to praise Him in the good days and bad. Pray for Kel’s healing, the doctors who are treating him, and our faith to endure.
When the flood gates opened to support, pray, and encourage us, we knew we needed a way to document our next unexpected journey. And so, the Southern Roots Adventure Soul website transitioned, and yet the concept still boldly applies. Thank you for being here with us.
