Official Start
Today, January 8, 2024 marks the day that we have officially started treatment for Kelly’s cancer.
My sister said it best, . . . this official start “reality is equally encouraging and overwhelming in the THIS IS REAL way”. We are here and it’s time to get to work. As we spent our time together at Oasis of Healing, there was no doubt, throughout every interaction of the day, that we have chosen the right route and direction for Kelly’s needs. We will fight cancer and we will support the kidneys. The road will not be easy, but it’s most definitely going to be worth it!

Kelly started his FOOD AS MEDICINE (raw plant based diet) part of his healing journey today. It will be a major adjustment for this HARDCORE CARNIVORE guy, but we are being educated regarding the why and hows of this nutrient dense diet that focuses on helping the body heal, and Kelly is all in. Lunch and juice were provided while at the clinic today and then he was sent home with his dinner tonight. Tomorrow the journey continues. Each day at the clinic Kelly will receive 2 green juices daily, breakfast, lunch, snacks, and is sent home with dinner, Monday through Friday with Saturday’s meals sent home Friday evening.
As I made the first $15,000 deposit for Kelly's first week of treatment today . . .
Side-note: that was a hiccup process. My debit card rejected the deposit payment. So I called the bank with the assumption they needed to know the size of the payment requested and the location since we’re out of state - knowing the money was there to be used. Instead, on my call, I was educated that my account would only allow a $5K max daily so I had to split the $15K deposit onto 3 separate cards, 2 of which I’ll be paying off tonight or tomorrow once they post to the account. Wowzers! But I digress . . .
I felt so much gratefulness for the way God has already provided through our community and their surrounding network. I was able to pay $15K today with “relative” ease today. SO THANKFUL!!!!
