Go!
We’ve been READY, . . .
We’ve been SET, . . .
now it’s time to GO!
We’re in Arizona!
A direct flight Kalispell, MT to Phoenix/Mesa, AZ is a blessing. In less than 2.5 hours, the entire McGoo crew landed in Arizona on Friday, January 5th taking the next step in this unexpected adventure.
We were immensely blessed to be picked up from the airport by a sweet friend. To see a familiar face immediately upon our arrival definitely helped to lessen the load my heart was feeling. So thankful! Our friend not only volunteered his time for an airport pick up, but then shuffled our entire crew around town for hours blessing us with his presence and provision of a delicious lunch, yummy dessert, took us to our rented condo, and then drove Kelly further to pick up our vehicle. SO generous! By the way, God moved mightily on the vehicle front for us. If you want the details check them out on the HE LOVES US page.
Once at the condo we took a restful approach . . . allowing the kiddos to get their wiggles out, grabbed dinner options from the Sprouts Grocer less than 1mi away from us (blessing!) and got to bed early. The restful pursuit continued throughout the start of Saturday until we ventured out towards Tuscon. Kelly’s mom and step-dad live almost 2 hours from Scottsdale. We drove to visit with them and allow the kiddos some much anticipated grandparent time.
Saturday night, Nana and Grandpa Al blessed Kelly and I with a date night. Kelly was adamant that the solo time between us was happening, reporting that our last scheduled date night was hijacked by his unanticipated hospitalization at the beginning of October 2023. He’s not exaggerating, but this bride doesn’t keep a tally in that department. Nevertheless, we soaked up the dinner date and were thankful for the opportunity to do so before we spring into Kelly’s treatment start on Monday, January 8th.
Sunday morning, we went to church at Faith Community Church-Tuscon. It was awesome, and another sweet “God wink” for us during this hard season. Today we were ministered to by the same pastor and worship leader that led our family during our 16 weeks stay in Alamogordo, NM back in 2021. During our second travel nurse assignment as a family, we lived in Alamogordo from March to mid-June 2021. We attended Christ Community Church when Pastor Tim and Emiliano both were leading there. To see their familiar faces, and hear the Truth shared was another blessing to us. The opening song today was Shane & Shane’s, You’ve Already Won. Whether you know it, or not, click the link and go listen to the truth of God’s provision and presence no matter what!! It’s a goodie and spurred on the first of lots of tear filled eyes for Mrs. McGoo today, but a heart of thankfulness abounds!
Tonight, we head back to Scottsdale kid free. Kelly’s first day at the clinic for treatment starts tomorrow. The monkeys will stay with Nana and Grandpa Al for a few days so that Mr. and Mrs. McGoo can attend the clinic together. The start of this week will be a good time to get a better understanding of expectations, next step needs, and ultimately how to best partner with Kelly for the weeks that Heather is present in Arizona versus how to pursue help needs that can be expected for the weeks Heather is back in Montana. A learning process, no doubt!
Thank you to everyone that is praying, has given, continues to share with others about the financial need this journey is requiring, and more! We are blessed by you! It’s hard to express our thanks enough. The kindness and generosity of those God has surrounded us with has been heart warming, humbling, and overwhelming. THANK YOU!
Financial Update:
We are currently less than $500 away from having 2 full weeks of Kelly’s treatment funded.
$15,000 will be paid into the clinic tomorrow for our treatment deposit, and at the completion of week 1 of treatment, another deposit will need to be made.
Our goal of 30 “January Giving Calendars” completed would equal $15,000 donated.
As of today, 1/7/24 - 3 people have/are engaging their network with their own calendars. THANK YOU!
No donated funds given for Kelly’s treatment are utilized for housing, travel, or any other family expenses. We honor your generosity and giving towards Kelly’s journey to support his kidneys and kick cancer to the curb. All the funds given are set aside in a separate designated account for Kelly’s treatment expenses only. Thank you!
